Chitrakoot, Feb. 26 -- The Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested five more pensioners in connection with the high-profile treasury scam in Chitrakoot district, officials confirmed on Thursday.
The accused were sent to jail after it was found that Rs 3.44 crore had been transferred into their bank accounts.
The arrested individuals include Jeevanlal and Natthuram from Nandi village, Lallu Prasad Kushwaha from Pahadi, Kailash Nath Pandey from Ora in Karvi, and Shivmangal from Chechariya Khurd.
According to the SIT, the funds were transferred to their accounts, and although they later returned the money in October after the scam surfaced, their involvement in the case led to their arrest on Wednesday.
