Imphal, Feb. 25 -- Police in Manipur and other security personnel conducted a series of sweeping operations across the state on Tuesday destroying nearly eight acres of poppy plantation, arresting five active cadres belonging to different outfits, and recovering a significant cache of arms, ammunition and tactical equipment, police said on Wednesday.

At the Sadim Hill Range under Senapati police station in Senapati district, where a combined team of security forces, Forest Department personnel and an executive magistrate descended on fields of illicitly cultivated poppy and systematically destroyed approximately eight acres of standing crop.
