Supaul, Aug. 26 -- Altogether five people were killed and one seriously injured after a speeding car ran over six people who were attending a devotional bhajan-kirtan gathering in Supaul district late last night.
District Magistrate Sawan Kumar said here on Wednesday that the accident occurred at Kataiya Chowk on the Pipra-Supaul road (NH-327E) in the Pipra police station area.
Three people, Tilai Das (65), Raju Das (50), and Surendra Yadav (40) died at the spot. Three others, identified as Lilay Das (42), Bhubaneswar Das (38), and Ramanand, were seriously injured and taken to the Sadar Hospital. Lilay Das and Bhubaneswar Das later succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
