Munger, June 24 -- A girl drowned, and four others went missing after they drowned while bathing in the Ganga River at Shyampur Ghat under Vasudeopur police station area in Munger district on Wednesday morning.
According to police, the incident took place when the eldest daughter of Kranti Paswan, a resident of Shyampur Bagachhapra locality, ventured into deep waters while taking a bath in the river and began drowning. In an attempt to rescue her, her three sisters and another girl, the daughter of Chamu Paswan, entered the river. However, all five girls were swept into deep water and drowned.
The sources said that one of the bodies of the girls has been recovered, while efforts are underway to trace the four others.
