Mumbai, Aug. 18 -- Intensifying the political friction over mega-infrastructure projects in Maharashtra, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) MP Supriya Sule has launched a scathing attack on the state government over the controversial Shaktipeeth Expressway, questioning its financial viability and mounting debt burden.

Slamming the state's fiscal priorities, Sule pointed out that Maharashtra is already grappling with an astronomical debt exceeding Rs 9 lakh crore. She questioned the rationale behind pushing ahead with a staggering Rs 1.10 lakh crore mega-project under such severe financial strain.
