Hyderabad, Aug. 6 -- In a major boost to Telangana's energy sector, the first rake of coal from the Naini coal block in Odisha reached the Singareni Thermal Power Station (STPS) on Thursday, marking a historic milestone in the state's efforts to strengthen power generation and ensure long-term energy security.
The inaugural consignment comprised 4,000 tonnes of high-quality G-10 grade coal transported over a distance of 1,131 km from Odisha in 59 box wagons. The coal block, allocated to Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) by the union Ministry of Coal on August 13, 2015, had remained unutilised for nearly nine years before the present state government expedited its development.
