Lucknow, March 30 -- Marking a historic milestone in the medical field in Uttar Pradesh, Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery was successfully performed for the first time at King George's Medical University (KGMU). Following the surgery, the patient is currently in recovery.

The procedure was performed at the institute on a 50-year-old female patient who had been suffering from Parkinson's disease for the past 25 years. Despite long-term medication, her condition showed no signs of improvement, and she was grappling with severe motor impairments. Consequently, the decision was made to undertake DBS surgery with the aim of enhancing her quality of life.
