Siliguri, June 20 -- The first batch of Kailash Mansarovar Yatris undertaking the sacred pilgrimage to Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar was flagged off from Nathu-La on Saturday by the Governor of Sikkim, Om Prakash Mathur.
Considered one of Hinduism's most revered pilgrimages, the Yatra takes devotees to Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar in the remote Ngari Prefecture of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China.
According to the Gangtok District Information Office, the first batch comprises 41 pilgrims, including two liaison officers and one medical officer. With four support staff accompanying the group, the total contingent strength stands at 47.
