Khagaria, Sept. 26 -- A bus carrying pilgrims caught fire suddenly on NH-31 in the Mansi police station area of Khagaria district early this morning.
According to police, around 50 to 60 passengers travelling on the bus managed to get out safely in time, averting a major tragedy.
The incident occurred at around 3 a.m. when smoke was suddenly noticed coming from the bus. Panic spread among the passengers, who began rushing out of the vehicle.
Soon after everyone had evacuated, the fire intensified and engulfed the entire bus, which was reduced to ashes within a short time.
After receiving information about the incident, police and fire brigade teams reached the spot and brought the blaze under control.
