Siliguri, May 16 -- A fire at the old house of TMC leader Swapna Barman on Friday night has triggered a political controversy in Bengal's Jalpaiguri, with rival parties trading allegations over the incident.

On Saturday, the Asian Games gold medallist and TMC leader lodged a complaint at the West Bengal Police's Kotwali police station.

Swapna Barman, who had quit her railway job to join All India Trinamool Congress, contested the 2026 Assembly election from the Rajganj constituency, but suffered defeat in the polls.

Following the fire incident, she alleged through a social media post that her house had been targeted in post-poll violence.
