Varanasi, Aug. 29 -- An FIR has been registered in Varanasi after two dogs were allegedly shot with an air gun, following coordination by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India with senior police officials, the dogs' caregiver and former union Cabinet Minister Maneka Gandhi.
The incident took place around 10:20 pm on August 18, when the accused, identified as Avinash Chandra Sinha, allegedly shot a community dog named Tingo with an air gun, according to PETA India.
When confronted by the dog's caregiver, Dr Aakansha Singh, Sinha allegedly threatened to kill all the dogs with a firearm, the animal rights organisation said.
