Mumbai, May 22 -- Police registered an offence on a social media post by an Instagram account holder for posting abusive, insulting, and derogatory content against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The offence was registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to promoting enmity between groups, public mischief, defamation, and violations of the Information Technology.
The offence was registered on a complaint made by Deepak Singh, a worker from the BJP Yuva Morcha who claimed that the accused had used insulting language and misused deepfake technology to create videos presenting the Prime Minister in a negative light.
