Mumbai, June 25 -- The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has seized around 1.5 tonnes of expired food products from an Amazon retail warehouse in the neighbouring Bhiwandi city after uncovering a racket in which expired stock was shown as destroyed using fake disposal certificates but was instead diverted back into the market for sale.
Two persons, including an Amazon official, have been booked following the action, which came after local Samajwadi Party MLA Rais Shaikh flagged the issue.
The issue gained attention after a recent incident in Bhiwandi's Khandapada area, where around 120 people suffered food poisoning.
