Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 31 -- Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan on Monday described the registration of an FIR against Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi in Uttarakhand as a serious challenge to democracy and the values enshrined in the Constitution.
Strongly condemning the action of the BJP government in Uttarakhand, Satheesan said the Sangh Parivar's attempt to silence or intimidate Rahul Gandhi through a police case was futile, as the Congress leader had only raised his voice against injustice and untouchability.
He also criticised the 'purification' ritual reportedly carried out by the Sangh Parivar following a public meeting at the Ramlila Maidan in Haldwani attended by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.
