Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 27 -- The role of cinema in documenting society, preserving collective memory and representing communities came under discussion at a 'Face to Face' session held at Kairali Portico on the third day of the 18th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK) here.
Filmmaker Krishnakant Mishra said films should serve as an archive of their times, enabling people decades later to look back and understand the social realities in which they were created.
He also stressed the responsibility of filmmakers in representing people and communities, while maintaining space for audiences to interpret and engage with what they see on screen.
