Mumbai, June 30 -- The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the licences of six hotels, restaurants and bakeries in Mumbai for violating food safety norms, officials said on Tuesday.
The action followed inspections carried out between June 26 and 28 under a special drive ordered by Food Safety Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe in Nariman Point, Borivali, Bhandup, Santacruz and Bandra.
FDA officials said the establishments were found violating provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act and the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011. The inspections reportedly revealed serious lapses, including food misbranding and unhygienic conditions in kitchens.
