Mumbai, Aug. 24 -- The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Maharashtra, has suspended licences of nine prominent food establishments in Mumbai, including five outlets of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), for serious violations of food safety and hygiene norms.

The action is part of a state-wide crackdown, FDA said in a press note here on Monday.

The establishments whose licences have been suspended are M/S Mumbai Cricket Association (Permit Room, Pavilion, Mediterranean, Oriental Swing and Clubway & Pastry Counter), Sankalp Mahila Audyogik Utpadak Sahakari Society Ltd, M/s Lenexis Foodworks Pvt Ltd, Cafe Cadell, Shivaji Park and China Town Fast Food Centre, Mulund.
