Srinagar, July 31 -- The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), J&K on Friday launched enforcement action against several food products after laboratory tests declared four brands of ghee and a batch of instant tea unsafe for human consumption, officials said.

The action followed reports from the National Food Laboratory, Ghaziabad, declaring samples of Dairy Mohan, Apna Dairy Milk, Sahi Taj and Milk Bite ghee unsafe.

An official spokesman said in Anantnag, authorities seized 1,250 litres of ghee, worth around Rs 4.88 lakh, belonging to the affected batches and issued a prohibition order under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. Sale and distribution of the identified batches have also been prohibited.
