Mumbai/Satara, June 15 -- The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), under the leadership of Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, has intensified its crackdown on counterfeit and misleading products, shifting its focus from illegal medicines to the cosmetics sector.

In a statewide enforcement drive, the FDA has seized fake, adulterated and misleading beauty products worth Rs 34.61 lakh from various locations across Maharashtra.

A major action was carried out in Karad, Satara district, where FDA officials confiscated cosmetic products worth Rs 29.45 lakh.

During the inspection, authorities found several products lacking essential details such as batch numbers, manufacturing dates and complete manufacturer information.
