Mumbai, Aug. 18 -- The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the licences of six hotels and clubs in Mumbai and seized food products worth over Rs 1.07 crore during a month-long special drive against alleged food safety violations across the state.

According to a press note issued by the FDA today, inspections were conducted between July 14 and August 17 under the "Safe Food, Safe Maharashtra" campaign.

The food licence of Otters Club in Bandra West was suspended after inspectors found analogue paneer being used in food items despite the state ban. The inspection also revealed unhygienic flooring, defective refrigerator gaskets and absence of temperature records.
