Nagpur, March 11 -- After the government invoked the Essential Commodities Act across the country, the administration in Nagpur has stepped up vigilance to prevent possible hoarding and black-marketing of LPG cylinders.

The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) has launched search operations across the city amid apprehensions of a potential artificial shortage of LPG.

Officials are conducting inspections at hotels, restaurants and LPG warehouses in various areas to check whether cylinders are being illegally stored or sold in the black market.

According to officials, there are concerns that some traders may attempt to hoard LPG cylinders or sell them at inflated prices during a shortage.
