Oslo, Sept. 19 -- Germany's Robert Farken and France's Agathe Guillemot won the men's and women's mile titles at the World Athletics Road Running Championships in Copenhagen on Saturday.
Farken overtook American Yared Nuguse in the closing stages to win in a German record of 3:51.80, the second-fastest road mile ever. Nuguse took silver in 3:52.33, with Luxembourg's Ruben Querinjean third in 3:52.77.
Guillemot surged clear late in the women's race to claim her first individual world title in a European record of 4:22.74. Ethiopia's Freweyni Hailu finished second in 4:24.35, ahead of Kenya's Mirriam Cherop in 4:25.71.
Denmark's Annemarie Nissen placed fourth in a personal best of 4:26.78, according to Xinhua.
