Kolkata, May 21 -- Close to 88 per cent of the electors exercised their franchise in the re-poll to the Falta Assembly constituency in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district on Thursday, the Election Commission of India (ECI) said.

The polling figure was 87.85 per cent, an ECI official said, while describing the re-election as largely peaceful without any major report of poll violence or EVM tampering.

The ECI ordered the repoll in all 285 booths of the constituency following numerous complaints of irregularities during the second phase of the state Assembly elections on April 29.
