New Delhi, June 15 -- The Indian Army's official fact-check handle has debunked a viral social media claim alleging that Aryan Verma, a 21-year-old man arrested in Uttar Pradesh for impersonating a senior Army officer, is related to Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, the current Vice Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Army Staff designate.

In a post under its "Shatter the Script" campaign, the Army said propaganda accounts were falsely claiming that the fake Indian Army Brigadier was the nephew of Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth. The Army clarified that Aryan Verma is a civilian who was arrested in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly impersonating as Brigadier and has no known family connection to the senior Army commander.
