Mumbai, March 9 -- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis welcomed newly appointed Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on his arrival here on Monday ahead of his swearing-in ceremony scheduled for March 10.
Dev Varma reached the city in the afternoon and was received at the Mumbai airport by the Chief Minister along with Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar.
The veteran politician is scheduled to formally assume office as the Governor of Maharashtra at the Lok Bhavan on March 10. His appointment follows the completion of the tenure of Acharya Devvrat, who had taken oath as the Governor of Maharashtra in September 2025 after serving earlier as the Governor of Gujarat.
