Mumbai, June 2 -- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis approved the politically sensitive loan waiver for farmers at a cabinet meeting here on Tuesday, due to which outstanding loans of farmers in Maharashtra of upto Rs 2 lakh will be written off.
He also stated that an official announcement will take place later, due to the Model Code of Conduct in force for the Legislative Council (MLC) elections.
The waiver will apply to farmers who have outstanding crop loans till September 30, 2025. As per the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Farmers Loan Waiver Scheme, all eligible farmers will get a loan waiver of up to Rs 2 lakh.
