Nagpur, Aug. 10 -- : Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday defended the proposed Foreign Contribution Regulation Amendment(FCRA) Bill, saying it was needed to prevent the misuse of foreign funds for "anti-national activities".

Rejecting the Congress allegation that the proposed legislation was aimed at Christian organisations, Fadnavis said the law would apply equally to all organisations receiving donations from abroad, regardless of their religion or community.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a programme in Nagpur, he said organisations involved in genuine and lawful activities would not face any difficulty because of the proposed changes.
