Asansol, May 19 -- Police on Monday arrested Raju Ahluwalia, the Asansol Block President of Trinamool Congress's labour wing INTTUC, on charges of extortion from the transport sector.

According to the allegations, Ahluwalia collected money from mini bus, public bus, auto rickshaw and toto unions.

Ahluwalia was produced before the Asansol Court, where, while entering the court premises, he claimed that the case against him was part of a "political conspiracy" and he has been falselyframed.

Ahluwalia was initially associated with CITU, the trade union arm of the CPI-M.

Later he had joined the Trinamool Congress and became a very close associate of labour minister Moloy Ghatak. He was promoted as the Asansol North Block President of INTTUC...
