Kolhapur, Aug. 9 -- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said the extension of Kolhapur city's municipal limits was essential for its planned and sustained development, while assuring that the concerns of people living outside the existing boundaries would also be addressed.

Speaking at a function here, Fadnavis responded to demands raised by local leaders, including city mayor Ruparani Nikam and ministers, for an expansion of the city limits.

"I tell all these leaders, don't worry. Kolhapur has never been short in the past, and I will not let Kolhapur be short in the future. But one thing is for sure, I will also throw the ball back to you-it is very necessary to extend the boundary," Fadnavis said.
