Chandigarh, March 27 -- The central government on Friday announced a significant reduction in excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 10 per litre each, aimed at stabilising domestic fuel prices amid rising international crude costs triggered by the conflict between Israel, Iran, and the United States.
Following this move, the excise duty on petrol has dropped from Rs 13 to Rs 3, while the duty on diesel has been reduced to zero.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini lauded the decision, stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has prioritised the interests of common citizens to control inflation.
