Los Angeles, June 29 -- Canada secured a historic place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16 for the first time after Stephen Eustaquio scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner to hand his side a 1-0 victory over South Africa at SoFi Stadium here on Monday (IST).

With the match seemingly heading for extra time, Eustaquio produced the decisive moment in the second minute of added time. Alistair Johnston delivered a cross from the right which South Africa only managed to clear as far as the edge of the penalty area.
