Brussels, April 20 -- European Council President António Costa held talks with Jordan's King Abdullah II on Monday, reaffirming the European Union's commitment to stability in West Asia and emphasizing support for the full and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz as a priority.
Costa said EU leaders will engage with international partners on the evolving situation in West Asia during an informal meeting in Cyprus later this week.
He stressed that "peace and stability in the Middle East are a priority" for the European Union, adding that the EU remains ready to work closely with key regional partners such as Jordan. "In that spirit, it is always a pleasure to count on the wisdom of King Abdullah II," he said.
