Brussels, Sept. 28 -- European union member states on Monday approved five pan-European defence projects covering space, maritime security, air and missile defence, and drone warfare, making the initiatives eligible for EU funding.
The projects, known as European Defence Projects of Common Interest (EDPCIs), are designed to enable EU countries to cooperate on defence capabilities considered too large or complex for individual member states to develop alone.
The approved initiatives include projects focused on drone and counter-drone capabilities, protection of Europe's eastern flank, integrated maritime and seabed defence, air and missile defence and early warning, and space-based defence.
