Etawah, April 18 -- In a significant ruling, a forest authority court in Etawah has ordered the eviction of a shrine claimed to be associated with a commander of Muhammad Ghori, declaring it an illegal encroachment on reserved forest land.

The decision came after a 64-day hearing, during which the shrine's representatives failed to provide any historical or legal evidence supporting their claim that the site was over 800 years old, officials said on Saturday.

The shrine, attributed to Shamsuddin-believed to be a commander of Muhammad Ghori-was found to occupy approximately 1,800 square feet of land designated as reserved forest.
