Kalaburagi, July 15 -- One of the three prisoners who escaped from the Kalaburagi Central Prison in a daring jailbreak was arrested on Wednesday after police shot him in the leg during a search operation when he allegedly attempted to attack the personnel, even as an intensive manhunt continued for the two remaining fugitives.

The arrested convict, Santosh Basappa Metre of Bidar district, was serving a 20-year sentence in a POCSO case. He had escaped with two other convicts by scaling the prison wall at around 4.35 am on Tuesday.
