Chennai, March 4 -- Ending the prolonged impasse after strains developed in the ties over power sharing and the numbers with senior leader P Chidambaram stepping in to break the ice and after climb down from both the sides, the ruling DMK and Congress inked the seat sharing pact for the ensuing Tamil Nadu Assembly polls on Wednesday night.
As per the agreement signed after protracted negotiations and after getting the nod from the AICC, the Congress was allotted 28 Assembly seats and a Rajya Sabha seat, TNCC President K Selvaperunthagai told reporters after singing the pact.
It was also believed that DMK has commited to offer one RS seat in 2028, though it was not officially confirmed or announced by both the parties.
