Patna, Sept. 10 -- The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Thursday urged the Centre to withdraw the mandatory requirement of Farmer ID for purchasing fertilisers and ensure that farmers and sharecroppers continue to receive fertilisers at the prescribed prices as before.
CPI Bihar state secretary Ramnaresh Pandey said here the government should first ensure that farmers and sharecroppers can procure fertilisers at regulated prices.
He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had come to power promising to double farmers' income, but their income had not doubled while the cost of cultivation had increased substantially.
