Mumbai, Aug. 29 -- In a major relief to four accused in the Elgaar Parishad case, a special court in Mumbai on Saturday rejected the National Investigation Agency's (NIA) application seeking cancellation of their bail over an alleged violation of bail conditions.
The court observed that the central investigating agency had failed to produce adequate material demonstrating that the accused had breached the conditions imposed while granting them bail.
The NIA had sought cancellation of bail granted to lawyers Sudha Bharadwaj and Arun Ferreira, Telugu poet Varavara Rao and activist Vernon Gonsalves, alleging that they had violated a condition restraining them from communicating with co-accused or persons involved in similar activities.
