Varanasi, July 23 -- In a significant initiative towards promoting clean, green, and modern water transport on the Ganga River, the Varanasi Development Authority (VDA), in collaboration with GAIL (India) Limited, has launched the first electric passenger boat operation under the "Electric Boat Conversion Pilot Project."Mayor Ashok Kumar Tiwari inaugurated the first phase of the project at a ceremony held at Namo Ghat on Thursday. He dedicated the first five boats converted from traditional boats to electric systems to the people.
Officials said this initiative is a significant step towards advancing the vision of clean, green, and sustainable development of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
