Parmod KumarNew Delhi, July 30 -- The Supreme Court on Thursday reserved its order on the Central government's plea seeking reference of the challenge to the Chief Election Commissioner and Other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Act, 2023, to a larger five-judge Bench.
During the hearing, the Court once again questioned the composition of the selection panel, observing that the presence of the Prime Minister and a Cabinet Minister alongside the Leader of the Opposition gave the government a dominant position in the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners.
