Hardoi, March 31 -- An elderly woman died when her hut caught fire in Magarha village under Mallawan Kotwali area of Hardoi district on Tuesday evening.
The blaze, caused by unknown reasons, engulfed a hut-like house, leaving widespread destruction.
According to local sources, the deceased, identified as Gomti, was sleeping on a cot inside the hut when the fire broke out around 4 PM.
At the time of the incident, her family members-including her sons Ramchela and Ram Sanehi, and son-in-law Som Narayan-were working in the fields.
Fueled by strong winds, the fire spread rapidly, consuming the entire structure before villagers could bring it under control.
