Buldhana, May 12 -- An 85-year-old woman was burnt to death after a major fire broke out in a house and triggered a cooking gas cylinder explosion in Malkapur city of Maharashtra's Buldhana district on Tuesday, police said.

The incident occurred in the Ashok Nagar area during the afternoon when temperatures had reportedly touched 44 degrees Celsius.

The deceased was identified as Narmadabai Lasurkar, who was living alone in the house after the recent death of her brother.
