Mumbai, June 29 -- Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday welcomed a Pune court's verdict sentencing 65-year-old Bhimrao Kamble to death for the rape and murder of a three-and-a-half-year-old girl in Nasrapur.

In a video message released after the Pune District and Sessions Court verdict, Shinde said the ruling reflected the state's commitment to the rule of law and marked a "significant victory for justice" for the victim's family.
