Hyderabad, Sept. 2 -- Eight political parties on Wednesday demanded that the Telangana government immediately implement the Licensed Cultivators Act, 2011, identify tenant farmers and issue them identity cards to enable direct access to government welfare schemes and support.

At an all-party meeting organised by the Telangana Tenant Farmers Recognition Struggle Committee at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram, the parties said tenant farmers should be identified during the current Kharif season and allowed to sell their produce directly to the government at Minimum Support Prices (MSP) using the identity cards.
