Aizawl, Sept. 21 -- Eight people, including a woman and two minors, have been arrested in connection with the killing of an Assam Regiment soldier who was allegedly beaten to death by a group of youths near Bualpui village in Mizoram's Kolasib district.
The victim, Zakaria Lalhriattluanga, 29, was returning to his native New Builum village on Sunday evening after availing leave from his posting in Jammu and Kashmir when the incident occurred, police said.
Kolasib Superintendent of Police Lalrinpuia Vartes said today that six of the arrested adults, all residents of Hmar Veng in Kawnpui town, had been sent to judicial custody. Police have launched a detailed investigation and more arrests could follow, he said.
