Kolkata, July 22 -- The Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched search operations at eight locations across West Bengal, including Kolkata, on Tuesday in connection with a Rs 160 crore fraud case.
Apart from Kolkata, the ED also conducted raids at four locations in Bongaon of North 24 Parganas district. ED officials visited the residence of an individual named Bishal and subsequently searched the home of his relative, Rajib Biswas.
A businessman Biswajit Biswas, accused of orchestrating fraud by setting up businesses under various names, has also come under the ED's scanner.
Allegations suggest that many people from outside the state were defrauded between 2014 and 2020 with promises of high interest rates on their deposits.
