Bengaluru, Sept. 9 -- Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the BJP over the Enforcement Directorate (ED) searches targeting PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi and his associates, alleging that the raids were politically motivated and aimed at cutting down the influence of an emerging Dalit leader.
The ED conducted searches at multiple locations in Karnataka and Goa as part of an investigation into alleged financial irregularities and possible violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
Breaking his silence on the searches, Shivakumar said the action against Jarkiholi was part of what he described as a continuing pattern of central agencies being used against Congress leaders.
