Kolkata, June 16 -- Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee was unable to meet Lok Sabha Speaker Om BirlA as a result of a marathon 11-hour interrogation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Kolkata in connection with the primary teacher recruitment scam.
As Banerjee's interrogation timing on Monday coincided with an urgent summons from the Birla's office in New Delhi, the Diamond Harbour MP failed to attend the crucial meeting.
According to sources, Banerjee had written to the Speaker on June 10 seeking an opportunity to present certain issues before him presumably because of the unusual political development that happened after 20 Trinamool Congress MPs joined a nearly unknown Nationalist Citizens' Party of Ind...
