New Delhi, April 3 -- The Election Commission of India on Friday announced that a substantial number of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) will continue to remain deployed in West Bengal to maintain law and order even after the completion of vote counting for the ongoing Assembly elections.
In a press note, the Commission stated that 500 companies of CAPFs will stay on in the state for post-poll law and order duties until further instructions are issued.
The move comes amid heightened focus on ensuring peace and stability during the sensitive period following the declaration of election results.
