ECI orders transfer of Mizoram electoral officer over alleged misconduct during SIR

Aizawl, Aug. 11 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed the transfer of David Lalrinawma, Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) for Lawngtlai district in south Mizoram, following an allegation that he was in an inebriated condition while conducting hearings related to the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, 2026.

Lalrinawma, a Mizoram Civil Service (MCS) officer serving as Additional Deputy Commissioner of Lawngtlai district, has been transferred from the post and appointed Deputy Secretary in the Department of Information and Communication Technology, according to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (Civil Service Wing) on Tuesday.
